The building is located in a land with a steep slope, accessed through two parallel streets with diverging dimensions. The solution proposed here involves the creation of different levels, in order to bridge the gap and provide the terrain with greater accessibility. The 1st floor is intended for a commercial space and houses the main access to the house, inside which the focus was on the functional reorganization of the spaces, in order to improve their quality.
The entrance to the house is carried out through stone stairs, which lead us to a distribution corridor, giving us access to a large kitchen, with direct connection to the dining room. Here there was a concern to create open spaces, in order to make the best use of natural light, maintaining the existing balcony openings. In this space we also have a connection to an attic, where we sought to create a new, more comfortable and aesthetic vertical access. Through this corridor, we have access to a service sanitary installation and the connection to the living room, where it is proposed to change the existing spans, creating a single one, in order to provide the entrance of natural light and a wide view of the patio. From this room we have access to a bedroom suite, consisting of a small hall, a sleeping area and a large toilet.
In addition to the new spatial organization of these compartments, elevation changes were also carried out, so that the entire house was on the same level, making it more functional and comfortable. In the backyard, the main focus was to make the most of the space, improving its organization, maintaining variations in height and creating different leisure areas, combining straight lines with organic routes, giving lightness to the space and filling its rough and dysfunctional appearance.
We start this route through a patio at a lower level, which gives access to a small staircase with organic lines, which contour the shape of the well, integrating it into the space. Through these we have a connection to the terraces, as well as to a small landing. The terraces develop on two levels, making a direct connection with the pool area and access to the second house, comprising a hall, a bedroom, a toilet and a kitchenette. Parallel to this route, a path was developed, which connects the lower level of the land with the upper level. Here, the intention was to convey the feeling of walking through a small garden that develops, organically, along the slope, providing us with small living spaces and contradicting the heavy feeling of the existing paths.
