Casa de Brancanes

Quinta Brancanes is set within a rural landscape in the eastern Algarve, enjoying open views over the valley and towards the Ria Formosa.
The project proposes the demolition of the existing ruins and the reconstruction of a single-family house, making use of the original footprint and its natural surroundings. The new dwelling is organized around a central courtyard, which acts as the core of the house, establishing a balanced relationship between interior and exterior spaces while ensuring privacy, natural light, and cross ventilation.
The architecture adopts a contemporary language inspired by local traditions, with simple volumes carefully integrated into the topography and landscape. The house opens strategically towards the valley, framing the views and enhancing the connection with the outdoors, complemented by leisure areas including a swimming pool and landscaped gardens.
Priority is given to the use of natural and local materials, such as stone and traditional lime-based finishes, reinforcing the identity of the place while promoting a sustainable and context-sensitive intervention.
