Serendipity

Serendipity overlooks the salt pans of Fuseta, within the protected landscape of the Ria Formosa Natural Park. The project concerns the alteration and refurbishment of an existing mixed-use rural building, originally comprising a dwelling and an agricultural storage structure, with the aim of transforming it into a contemporary single-family home.
The intervention focuses on improving spatial layout, comfort, and functionality, while preserving the existing building volume and character. The design enhances the relationship between interior and exterior spaces, making full use of the strong southern orientation and the surrounding natural landscape views.
A key principle of the project is the use of natural, locally sourced materials and a restrained architectural approach, ensuring the building integrates harmoniously into its sensitive context and reinforces the essence and identity of the place.
