Casa Formosa

Casa Formosa is a project for the alteration and expansion of an existing residential building located at Largo António dos Santos Fernandes and Avenida Ria Formosa, in Cabanas de Tavira. Set within a consolidated urban context and closely connected to the coastal landscape of the Ria Formosa, the building seeks to enhance its identity while respecting the surrounding urban fabric and its historical construction context.
The project focuses on a two-storey building, promoting a functional reorganization and improving living conditions, comfort, and spatial quality. The intervention preserves the essential structure of the building while introducing a new internal layout that clearly separates private and social areas, strengthening the relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces.
The proposal includes the creation of four bedrooms on the lower floor, each with access to en-suite bathrooms, ensuring a functional and comfortable living experience. The upper floor is dedicated to the social areas of the house, arranged in an open-plan layout, integrating the kitchen, living room, and dining area, with direct access to generous outdoor spaces, including terraces and leisure areas.
The intervention also includes the requalification of the façades, promoting a coherent and contemporary architectural language in dialogue with traditional local elements. The introduction of new openings and the improvement of natural lighting and ventilation contribute to enhancing the quality of the interior spaces.
