Casa Amor is a project that aims to develop a boutique hotel in the historic center of Olhão, fully focused on immersive local and traditional experiences.
With the intention of fully engaging with local life, Casa Amor occupies an original 19th-century building whose architectural features reflect the memory, heritage, and unique identity of the city. The project is based on the careful rehabilitation of this heritage asset, preserving its original layout and character-defining elements while adapting the spaces to a contemporary hospitality use.
Distributed across several floors, the building includes luxury suites, common areas, dining spaces, and cultural facilities, offering a complete and authentic experience. Key features include the preservation of traditional vaulted ceilings, the creation of an interior courtyard that enhances natural light and ventilation, and the reinterpretation of the rooftop “açoteia” as a leisure area with a swimming pool and views over the city.
The project also integrates Café Baltazar, Restaurant Segredo, and Helena Gallery, strengthening its connection to local gastronomy, culture, and the surrounding community. The use of traditional materials such as lime plaster, handmade terracotta tiles, and wrought iron, combined with a contemporary design approach, creates a balanced dialogue between past and present.
Casa Amor stands as a place where architecture, history, and experience intersect, returning a landmark building to the city and creating a destination that celebrates the identity of Olhão.
